Nicole did everything right… She graduated law school and passed the bar on her very first try. She started her career in BigLaw, billing 60 hour weeks, churning out quality work without guidance or direction. Nicole was smart enough to figure out most things on her own. She knew it was sink or swim and Nicole was a champion grinder.
Nicole left BigLaw and transitioned to a mid-sized firm believing this would make her happy. She went above and beyond to prove her value. She worked late to meet looming discovery deadlines; draft winning briefs; and was always the first to volunteer to take hearings in distant counties.
Professionally, things were going well – Yet something was missing.
Nicole had a nagging dissatisfaction that grew and grew.
Until one day she woke up and asked herself, “Is this it?” “Is this really all there is?” Nicole had not had a salary increase in years and her student loan debt seemed like it would go on forever…
And … although she works with an abundance of men, she was rarely asked out and had never dated a man who loved and adored her or made her feel special and feminine.
Nicole was worn out, unhappy and her life was stuck in a rut.
Nicole was not the living the implied promise being a lawyer had held out for her.
She had a career everyone envied but a life she found empty, unfulfilling and lacking real passion…
Does Nicole’s story touch an uncomfortable nerve for you?
